Beach Street Felixstowe - so what’s it all about then?  Well settle in, you’re in for a treat!

50 yards from the prom, Beach Street  has a variety of fabulous small and independent businesses that are open all year round (opening hours for individuals can be found on the Beach Street website) We have a core number of entrepreneurs who have been with us from the start - opening their doors in December 2020, and yes that was technically in the middle of a pandemic, but fortune favours the brave and many more business joined the site in the months afterward. 

 

You may (or may not) know that the whole site is made up of pre-loved shipping containers (apart from a bus, a hut & a huge events area nicknamed “The Shed” but we will get to that later!) some are 20ft containers, some are 40ft+. They may have started as cold metal boxes but boy they are worlds away from that now, each being transformed by a mixture of outstanding vision and sheer determination!

 

The eclectic mix of retail, street food, pub and not to mention the very popular Cabaret bar overlooking everyone, has Beach Street proving to be an enormously popular destination for the locals and visitors alike. As if this wasn’t enough, the previously mentioned “The Shed” is a large covered area that holds many an event, from big screen football games, Ibiza parties, craft markets and of course the traditional Sunday market that has been going for donkeys! It has also hosted roller skating discos, fitness boot camps, boxing and axe throwing (not all at the same time!!) and is available to hire for pretty much any event you can think of!

Cosy Aromas - This fragrant little gem,run by Justine, is open 4 days a week all year round,their products are handmade,vegan & pet friendly.They have wax melts, candles,oils,bath bombs,body butters,hand soap,lip balms,room sprays, soaps & gift sets along with t-light burners and electric warmers … phew it’s amazing what you can fit into a 20ft container!

Fades Barbers - Our latest addition to Beach Street - Carlos is a local barber with 9 years experience and a client list to match.He’s amazing with kids who are not keen on a haircut … having 4 kids himself we quess it’s all in a days work to him, so if you have a reluctant one he’s your man!

Susie Sparkle - A wonderful collection of soft Italian clothing, quirky scarves & accessories and sparkly jewellery (of course!) Susie is a gifted shop owner who also does psychometric readings which is the ability to “read” the energy of objects,photographs ect. Fascinating stuff!

Beard Manners - Our resident Beard Meister Jason has everything you need to keep that beard healthy, shiny and smelling incredible, who knew 20 years ago that this would be a “thing” but it really is, Beard Manners is incredibly popular here at Beach Street and there has definitely been an influx of hairy men since his arrival!

Puzzle - This stylish boutique ooozes Scandi charm as does the owner Karen! Beautiful clothing, funky shoes & chic handbags nestle beside quirky gifts, statement jewellery & unusual homewares. Karen is the queen of shop merchandising and was voted by the Mayor of Felixstowe as the best shop window at  Beach Street

Hanks Dirty - calling all Vegans,we got your back! This 40 footer is the 2nd sister (there are 4) to the hugely popular Ipswich venue. Fast food at its best, each dish is absolutely delicious and if you didn’t know it was vegan you wouldn’t know it was vegan (if that makes sense?!) They are partnered up with Just Eat & have a loyalty app for all you hardcore vegans!

The View Smokehouse - with the most spectacular views (hence the name!) The View serves from breakfast through to dinner, very popular in the warmer months (you might want to book a table) but in the winter there is a cosy inside area with a bar and a very warm welcome! Although it is on the upper level there is a lift that will take you up to this fab restaurant - definitely worth the ride!

Shore - Coffee by the Coast - This gorgeous hot pink container hosts the best coffee this side of London! But don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just coffee on offer, Shore have a selection of leaf teas,smoothies,milkshakes, hot chocolate and THE best locally handmade bakes & cakes! A selection of these are vegan and gluten free, and there are also alternative milk options for the drinks.Be prepared to queue - not for long though as Kate and her staff are on it, but it’s a popular one that’s for shore (!)

Exclusive Candy - A relative newbie to Beach Street , the kids (grown ones as well!) thought all their christmases had come at once when Luke opened his doors! Classic Pick n Mix, American Candy, unique drinks & unusual savoury snacks, Exclusive Candy has everything you need for that sweet tooth monster inside of you! A firm favourite in the school holidays.

Patty Macs - who doesn’t love a burger? Yeah but you ain’t had a burger till you’ve had a Patty Macs burger! 30 day dry aged meat from free range, grass fed cows sandwiched between a semi-brioche bun baked daily at the Blackberry Bakery, Colchester, famous for using  100% natural ingredients … no chemicals,preservatives or raising agents here! Patty’s also do a delicious buttermilk soaked chicken burger - perfection.

Four Three Pizza -  often made in front of you with flare and fresh ingredients,Four Three is now famous in Felixstowe for its signature NY style pizzas (with a fluffy crust, unique to them)The bemused faces of customers at the opening when handed this mahossive 20” box was priceless and word spread pretty quickly, putting Sam & her crew on the map. The introduction of pizza slices (which again are huge) proved to be an absolute winner along with garlic or cinnamon knots that are to die for!

The Waffle Shack - A firm favourite with families & Beach Street tenants, Tracy & her team don’t just waffle all day, they make THE BEST Waffles in Felixstowe, they also do crepes, toasted sandwiches, paninis, icecream thick shakes,hot drinks & cold drinks. Due to their indoor seating they also play host to adult art classes, kids art classes, well-being waffles (where local businesses can hold meetings and treat their teams) and can be hired out for childrens parties, baby showers & just about any celebration you can think of! A good all rounder and they have outdoor seating as well.

Hazel & Co Yoga Studio - Hazel (AKA Pocket Rocket!) has the unique ability to create positive vibes & zen in these often crazy surroundings. She offers a variety of daily classes including beginners, power,Ashanti and even beer/wine yoga (!) at very reasonable prices. She also plans yoga events and is very open to hiring out the studio - so feel free to contact her. The recent CBD shop within the studio is very popular and Hazels expertise in this field is second to none!

Viet Street Food Co - There’s just one word “Delicious!” From dog bowl size containers filled with your choice of seasoned meats / rice/ noodles and vegetables to steaming hot Gyozo dumplings, fluffy bao buns & pho (with an amazing homemade soy dip) The Viet delivers on every level, flavour,portions,service & price!

Hopsters - This funky bar specialises in craft ales - serving pales, lagers & IPAs to the good folk of Felixstowe and beyond. They are also fantastic hosts to many a good night out - including Oktoberfest, Beer festivals, themed events and live music. Absolutely packed in the summer months, the outside seating area that they share with The Viet, is family (and dog) friendly … definitely worth a visit!

Carnitas Taqueria - The Hut - This Hot Hot Hot hut is the home of Nachos,wings, burritos & tacos , all with Paul’s (no he’s not Mexican!) spicy homemade salsas, guacamole & sauces. But do not fear if you’re feeling the heat, a cheeky little Mexican bar has popped up just alongside Carnitas to wash it down … Arriba Arriba it’s time for Tequila!!

All Shapes - The Bus - We at  Beach Street are always on the lookout for the next unique venue so when a big old bus turned up,we thought why not?!? The boys at All Shapes were quick to seize the opportunity and with blood sweat and tears,ripped out, refurbed & repainted the bus to make a very cool art gallery with local artists being the focus of their vision. They also plan to use the top deck as an art studio, so watch this space …

Carbon Steal - Show us your inner Viking … you know you want to! The newest venture at Beachstreet , Carbon Steal has built a very impressive “cage” where you can work on your stress levels by hurling an axe at the wall! Trust us it’s very cathartic. Martin who already owns Axes & Arrows,has a wealth of expertise and trained individuals on hand who travel around the country setting up camp at weddings, festivals, team building events and much more bringing addictive & friendly competition to the masses!

La Vida - Cabaret comes to Felixstowe … FAB-U-LOUS! Leon’s vision for something a little different has paid off big style! With regular drag acts, bands, quiz nights and the latest “Drag Bingo” (which has sold out within days on every date!) this classy venue overlooks Beachstreet and is a regular haunt for the business owners as well as Jo public (or Johanna … however you roll) Come join us for a cocktail (or two!)

Tinx Boutique - This gorgeous boho style boutique is the brainchild of Terri who has been with us from the start. Tinx exudes effortless style with its clothing for men & woman selling brands like SALTROCK and Sass & Belle. But not content with just clothing, handbags,shoes and handmade jewellery adorn the shop along with Terri‘s love of all things “Van Life” for your adventures on the road- including shabby chic throws,cushions & beautiful accessories. Tinx has recently moved to a bigger shop within the Mannings market area but she is still a Beachstreet gal at heart.
