How to make Peppermint Mocha Wax Melts - Mixology #7

What scents are in this recipe?

How did you choose to use these scents?

Peppermint Mocha is a scent that reminds me of the winter months and Christmas time, when the seasonal drinks all start to appear on the menus of the local coffee shops. We thought we would give you this coffee shop aroma to have in your home.

The first scent to make the cut this week had to be Cappuccino. It is a rich comforting scent that will make your visitors think you’ve decided to open a coffee shop in your house! The dark coffee bean scented wax melt is sweetened slightly by a touch of vanilla to add that extra special ingredient. A strong aroma that will last for a long time and fill your home.

Wild Mint is the second feature for this weeks mixology session with its sharp and refreshing notes it compliments the rich strong cappuccino scent perfectly. It is a refreshing scent that will tantalize your senses and remind you of night filled with cocktails, or delicious after dinner mints! A clean and fresh scent that is still among our most popular fragrances.

We did test out Spruce & Peppermint before Wild Mint but found it to be too woody for this particular mixology. Where as Wild Mint is fresh and clean Spruce & Peppermint leads to musky undertone. So Wild Mint made the cut.

How do you test these?

We spend all week both at home and in the warehouse office trying out different combinations of the cosy pods together to work out the best scent mixture. This can go really well or equally not so well. Some scents do don’t work well mixed at all and that is why we rigorously test the combination ideas ourselves to ensure they will fill your home with the aroma you are looking for. We test these in both electric wax warmers and tea light warmers.

What is the best amount to mix?

Fragrance is a very subjective thing. What one person can smell can vary a lot from someone else. This is ok, the world would be very boring if we were all the same! We have found that the best amount to use for making Peppermint Mocha is one part Cappuccino to one and a half parts Wild Mint.

Can I change the mix?

If you try out the mixology but decide for your taste you’d like to alter it, go ahead. There are no set rules when scent mixing. It’s all fun and about experimenting. You can get the whole family involved and try and get the kids to work out what scent you’ve made. Have fun with it and as always we’d love to hear your thoughts on this weeks mixology.

What other mixology sessions have you done?

So far to feature on the Cosy Candles Mixology we have had Strawberry Cheesecake, Caramel Latte, Lemon Pound Cake, Cinnamon donuts, Raspberry & Mint sorbet and Coconut & Blueberry Muffins. These have all been very popular with many of our regular customers trying the mixes out and finding new favourite scents. Have you tried any new mixology's?

When deciding which scents to add to our mixology list we put a lot of thought into our brainstorming time to come up with a range of scents we thought most of you would appreciate. From asking questions and looking through the comments you have made on our Cosy Candles - Community Facebook Group we could see a strong liking for foodie or sweet scents.
